    Survey on attitudes towards Turkish Cypriots (in greek)

On 24.10.2010 a public opinion poll was published in the newspaper "O Phileleftheros", recording among others the results of telephone interviews with 1001 Greek Cypriots aged over 18 residing in both urban and rural areas conducted between 11-17 October 2010.. On the question whether they would settle permanently under Turkish Cypriot administration, 30 per cent said yes, 65 per cent said no and five per cent did not reply. Thirty four percent of the men responded positively, 60 per cent negatively and six per cent did not respond. From the women interviews, 26 per cent responded positively, 71 negatively and three per cent did not respond. In terms of age, amongst those aged between 18-34 only 15 per cent responded positively and 80 per cent negatively; amongst those aged 35-54, 33 per cent responded positively and 62 negatively; and amongst those aged 55+, 35 per cent responded positively and 59 negatively. Interviewees were asked about their levels of acceptance of Turkish Cypriots as friends (20 per cent said ‘not at all’, 19 per cent said ‘ a little’, 28 per cent said ‘sufficiently’ and 32 per cent said ‘a lot’); as colleagues (19 per cent said ‘not at all, 21 per cent said ‘a little’, 21 per cent said ‘sufficiently’ and 31 per cent said ‘a lot’); as neighbours (23 per cent said ‘not at all’, 20 per cent said ‘a little’, 28 per cent said ‘sufficiently’ and 27 per cent said ‘a lot’); as supervisors at work (45 per cent said ‘not at all’, 13 per cent said ‘a little’, 23 per cent said ‘sufficiently’ and only 17 per cent said ‘a lot’)
