Qualitative Info

Against the background of the adoption of twelve common goals by the European Council in March 2006, the German Federal Government drafted the National Report on Strategies for Social Protection and Social Inclusion 2008-2010 (Nationaler Strategiebericht Sozialschutz und soziale Eingliederung 2008-2010). The strategies on social cohesion mentioned in the report consider the common goals which have been agreed upon at the European level. The goals include reduction of poverty and social exclusion, sustainable and adequate pensions as well as a sustainable and high-quality health care protection and long-term care.
The Federal Government emphasises the importance of social cohesion; for example by defining the goal a - Social Cohesion, Equal Treatment and Equal Opportunities (Sozialer Zusammenhalt, Gleichbehandlung und Chancengleichheit für alle – Ziel a) (BMAS 2009, 13).
The key issues of the National Report cover the chapters National Action Plan on Social Integration (Nationaler Aktionsplan soziale Integration), National Report on Strategies for Pension (Nationaler Strategiebericht Alterssicherung) and National Report on Strategies for Health and Log-Term Care (Nationaler Strategiebericht Gesundheit und Pflege).
