Severely criticized by the experts of the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) in August 2010 for the eviction and expulsion of Roma and Travellers, the French authorities promised to set up a National Action plan against racism. On 1 December 2010, Brice Hortefeux, French Minister of Interior and Alain Jacubowicz, president of the International League against Racism and Anti-Semitism (LICRA) signed a Framework Convention on the fight against racism and antisemitism. On this occasion, Hortefeux said the fight against racism and anti-Semitism had to be strengthen and presented this convention as part of the National Action plan against racism that the French government would launch in Spring of 2011. But the National Action Plan against Racism has not been adopted yet. |
