In 2009, altogether 2 195 pupils, whose mother tongue was other than Finnish, Swedish or Sámi, participated in upper secondary education. This amounted to 4.5 per cent of all pupils in upper secondary education. In 2009, altogether 13 906 pupils, whose mother tongue was other than Finnish, Swedish or Sámi, participated in vocational education.
