Social welfare benefit for foreigners (and Danes who have not been living in Denmark for 7 out of the last 8 years), the so-called start-allowance (starthjælp), amounts to only appr. 65% of the normal social welfare benefit (kontakthjælp). (The Danish Parliament has decided to abolish the system of the starthjælp. By the 1th of Jan 2012, immigrants may receive normal social welfare benefits). |
