Forix - Suburbian parliament (Förorternas Riksdag) works to combat intolerance, racism and xenophobia through young marginalized peoples advocacy. The aim is to capture the political will that exists among young people living in the immigrant segregated suburbs by organizing training courses and meetings in cities across Sweden (Forix http://www.forix.se).

The project Suburb in the Centre (Förorten i Centrum) has been run by the Red Cross, with financial support the General Heritage Foundation (Allmänna Arvsfonden) and the foundation Culture of the Future (Framtidens Kultur), and is intended to stimulate young people's faith in the future and their pride in themselves and the place where they live. One of the aims of the project is to provide young people with a channel where they can express their thoughts by means of art. The youth can through art tell stories about living in the immigrant segregated areas such as Husby in north Stockholm. The youth get a chance to tell other stories about their neighbourhoods to oppose the negative media image of their residential area. The youth  are often categorised as 'immigrants' that do not participate in the Swedish society. This project wants to show another picture of being an immigrant youth in the surburbs (http://www.forortenicentrum.org/), accessed 2012-03-11
