The UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination stressed that despite measures taken by the state to improve the situation of Roma and tackle racial discrimination, the Roma population is still facing racist stereotypes and racial discrimination which hinder their equal access to quality education (including the segregation of Roma children), housing, healthcare, social services, employment, and even certain public places and public services. The Committee reports also about the existence of cases of police excessive use of force, ill-treatment or abuse of power against minority groups, in particular Roma people. The police and justice personnel is also criticized for using racial profiling.

The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child expressed concern "that while, persons can be identified as belonging to a minority group only through self-reporting, abandoned or very young children who are not able to identify themselves are often identified as Roma by social workers and others, resulting in discriminatory practices, including segregation."
