Qualitative Info

In 2004 and following the approval of Law n. 18/2004, dated May 11, which transposed Directive n. 2000/43/CE into national law, the Alto Comissariado para a Imigração e Minorias Étnicas (ACIME) [High Commission for Immigration and Ethnic Minorities] signed a Protocol with Associação Portuguesa de Apoio à Vítima – APAV [Portuguese Association for Victim Support], a non-profit voluntary charitable organisation, establishing the Unidade de Apoio à Vítima Imigrante e de Discriminação Racial ou Étnica (UAVIDRE) [Unit for the Support to Immigrant Victims and Victims of Racial and Ethnic Discrimination].

Since then and with the financial support of ACIDI (former ACIME) UAVIDRE intervenes particularly with regards to crimes of racial or ethnic discrimination, providing free legal orientation and psychological support.
