Qualitative Info

Migrants are engaged in consultation under the Conselho Consultivo para os Assuntos da Imigração (COCAI) [Consultative Comittee for Immigration Affairs] created in 1998 and regulated by Decree-law no. 39/98 of 27 February.

With the creation of the Alto Comissariado para a Imigração e Minorias Étnicas (ACIME) [High Commission for Immigration and Ethnic Minorities] by the Decree-law no. 251/2002 of 22 November, renewed Alto Comissariado para a Imigração e Diálogo Intercultural (ACIDI) [High Commission for Immigration and Intercultural Dialogue] by Decree-law no. 167/2007, the Consultative Comittee for Immigration Affairs gained a new juridical framing.
