The 2011 National Census of Population for the first time enabled the Poles to express complex national and ethnic identities by means of asking two questions concerning the two aspects. The outcome confirmed the fact that the homogenic population of Polish national identity of 36,157,000 is dominant (which makes 93,9% of the whole population in Poland). About 842,000 (2,19%) people have both Polish and another then Polish identity based on nationality and ethnics. The respondents declaring exclusively the non-Polish national or ethnic affiliation make the group of 562,000 (1,46%) people, of which 38,000 are the people identifying themselves with two non-Polish nationalities [2].
