Poland has a small immigrant population, however, the exact number of immigrants living in Poland is not known. Estimates available of the number of immigrants, formulated using various indicators and methods, differ significantly. According to Poland's Office for Foreigners there were about 97 080 residence-card holders as of 31 December 2010. Residence-card holders include those who have a temporary residence permit (37 103), a settlement permit (47 545), refugees (988), those who have been granted the long-term resident’s EC residence permit (5 747), subsidiary protection (4 832) and tolerated state (865); EU citizens and refugee applicants do not have residence cards. According to the data from Central Statistical Office from the year 2010 there are 15 246 of immigrants having permanent stay permit in Poland (9011 males and 6235 females). The Eurostat data shows that 45 464 is the total number of foreigners including citizens of other EU Member States and non-EU citizens, usually resident Poland (as of 1 January 2008). In December 2006, the estimate from the Polish Central Statistical Office that includes all foreigners was about 200,000 (60,000 of them in Poland for more than one year).
