In 2008, the Equal Treatment Bodies received a total of 478 inquiries on grounds of ethnic discrimination.

According to the Equal Treatment Act there are two bodies responsible for dealing with ethnic discrimination in the private sector: The Ombud for Equal Treatment Irrespective of Ethnic Belonging, Religion and Belief, Age and Sexual Orientation in Employment (OET II) and the Ombud for Equal Treatment Irrespective of Ethnic Belonging in Other Areas and for Equal Treatment of Men and Women in Goods and Services (OET III). In 2008, the OET II received 156 inquiries concerning ethnic discrimination, that is 32 per cent of the total amount of inquiries addressed to the OET II. The OET III received 322 inquiries or complaints on grounds of ethnic discrimination. 20 per cent thereof concerned issues of housing, 8 per cent health insurance, retirement pension insurance and other issurance issues, 11 per cent transport, 5 per cent real estate advertisments, 2 per cent banking, 15 percent shops and bars, 10 per cent administrative offices, 8 per cent schools and scholarships and 21 per cent other topics.
