30.1 per cent of the population with migration background have at least primary education. In 2009/2010 the primary education population of foreign pupils was 36,660 pupils (11.1 per cent of the total primary education population).

Qualitative Info

The educational profil of the migrant population differs quite significantly from the population without migration background. In 2010, 16.2 per cent of the total population had at least primary education. 12.7 per cent of persons of Austrian origin had at least completed primary education compared to 30.1 per cent of the population with migration background. Differentiated according to groups of migration the proportion of the group having at least completed primary education is as follows: first generation 31.2 per cent, second generation 21.4 per cent, EU/EEA/Switzerland 10.5 per cent, former Yugoslavia (without Slovenia) 37.4 per cent, Turkey 66 per cent and other countries 23.7 per cent.
