The Niederlassungsverordnung 2011 (regulation on settlement permits for the year 2011) allows for the issuing of 8,145 residence permits. Furthermore it stipulates that 7,500 work permits are issued for foreigners employed on a temporary basis and 7,500 work permits for seasonal workers. The residence permits are distributed among the federal states as follows: Burgenland 180, Carinthia 240, Lower Austria 575, Upper Austria 950, Salzburg 470, Styria 795, Tyrol 480, Vorarlberg 295 and Vienna 4,160.
