Prosecutor of Hate Crimes and Discrimination of Barcelona

The Memory 2010 reports 171 incidents. The majority of these offences are attributed to racism and xenophobia (41%), but there are also cases geared by the victim’s sexual orientation (29%), beliefs (13%), religion (7%), disability (6%) and by anti-Semitism (3%). The report also states that these cases are only the tip of the iceberg, as it is estimated that between 82% and 94% of such incidents are not reported by the victims. Insistence on the low level of complaints in discriminatory cases in Spain is a common feature among reports carried out in Spain on this issue.
