Report on the fight against racism and xenophobia in France, 2010
The year 2010 is marked by numerous polemics concerning immigration and integration. There was an explosion of the racist, antisemitic and xenophobic acts in 2009 (1841 acts), in 2010 the racist and antisemitic violence decreased (-26%). The main areas of tension are Islam and immigration; a majority of French people consider that the integration does not work. Adopting 28 recommendations, the French National Consultative Commission on Human Rights urges the Government to fight against the trivialization of racism, especially in public discourse and on the Internet.
