The Roma Mother Centre’s aim is to act as a self-help group to facilitate access to services (health care, child care, education etc.), and to play an important community building role through common activities. In the long run it might contribute to Roma self-organisation processes, and promote the growth of advocacy skills and social inclusion. The Mother Centre run by the Colourful Pearls Association, a Roma women’s organisation located in Pécs, is one of the mother centres supported financially and professionally by the Open Society Institute (OSI).[1]
