In the night of 24 October 2009, a Turkish-German cultural centre with a praying room was defiled by throwing pork blood and eyes at the building under construction in Elsenfeld. With the help of witnesses, the police were able to find the suspects. The delinquents confessed that they disregarded the permission for a Muslim place of worship. The case received political interest when the public prosecutor classed the case as criminal property damage not recognizing any extremist motive. Muslim representatives and the legal policy expert of the Social Democrats in the Bavarian State Parliament criticised the prosecutor’s assessment and criticised her lack of sensitivity pointing to the perpetrators’ anti-Muslim motives.
