Against mosque erection

Protests and pickets broke out when the Muslim League (Liga Muzułmańska) began the construction of a mosque in Warsaw in 2010, though these were accompanied by counter protests. The protests were accompanied by shouts of: ‘Mosque today, Jihad tomorrow’, ‘Political Islam is a threat to Europe’, and ‘Stop chadors, women’s liberation’. The Muslim League is a registered religious association operating in Poland since 2001. According to estimations, there are about 35-40 thousand Muslims in Poland, of which 11-12 thousand live in Warsaw. They are both foreigners and Polish citizens, including the Tatar ethnic minority.
