The Ministry of Citizen Protection announced a project, entitled “Action in Athens” aiming at collecting information and putting forward action in seven different domains: Drugs (transfer of rehabilitation centres in hospitals and pertinent training of police and municipal officers); illegal petty trade (recording of legal and illegal petty sellers and creation of “multicultural markets”); prostitution (recording of the legal status of prostitutes and issuance of permits); homeless persons (recording of homeless persons and creation of appropriate reception centres and implementation of the “one-euro job” model); illegal immigrants (recording of migrants, tracking of people who illegally rent spaces to migrants, employment action, creation of reception centres for vulnerable groups and an enforcement body with the inclusion of specially trained alien agents); deserted buildings (recording in the interest of fighting tax evasion and utilisation of buildings as cultural centres or residences); and bars.
