Travellers' population
Based on data from surveys conducted in the years 1960, 1970 and 1980, the report by the prefect Delamon on the situation of Travellers in 1990 [1] estimated that their total number was 220 000 – 250 000 people. According to the report presented to the Prime Minister in 2011, the number of Travellers was between 240 000 and 300 000 people. [2]
According to the associations that take into account semi-sedentary and settled Travellers, their number is 250 000- 500 000 people [3].
The number of persons holding the specific title for circulation was approximately 174 000 at the end of 2011 (excluding Travellers over 80 years and children under 16 years who don’t have any obligation to hold this title, as well as Travellers who own or rent their primary residence). Amongst 30 000 people living on the reception areas on December, 15, 2010, nearly 14 000 were children under 18 years old (46%) [4].

Muslims
There is no data
Qualitative Info
Since 1872, there have been no official statistics gathered on religious denominations in the census or in any administrative data file or any survey conducted by the public statistical institutions in France. This prohibition derives from provisions included in the laws on the secularism of the state and has been reinforced by the data protection act of 1978 (amended in 2004). Due to this general prohibition, there is no detailed information regarding the number of Muslims in France.
